Description
Forest Honey - a nectar honey from woodland areas
Forest honey is an exceptional product which – as the name suggests – forest honey is made from nectar and honeydew obtained from plants growing wild in the forests. The bees gather forage from coniferous and deciduous trees as well as from the rich forest floor, including blackberries, raspberries, bilberries, linden, camomile and wild rose.
The colour of forest honey varies and depends on the particular harvest, that is on when and from which flowers or honeydew the bees gathered the raw material. In our apiaries we often come across spring forest honey, which is usually a little lighter, and autumn forest honey. The latter is darker because of its higher honeydew content, which is why it is sometimes also called nectar-honeydew honey. The differences in shade are natural and testify to its authenticity.
