Description

Nectar-Honeydew Honey - a true treasure from a forest apiary

Nectar-Honeydew Honey is harvested mainly in woodland areas rich in both deciduous and coniferous forest. The honey is usually created when a forest apiary is set up to produce pure honeydew honey, but because of difficult weather conditions the bees bring in nectar from the surrounding plants in addition to honeydew. As a result, nectar-honeydew honey is characterised by an aromatic honeydew taste and by the health benefits typical of both honeydew and nectar honey.

The insects take plant sap from the leaves and branches of coniferous and deciduous trees, using its protein components and leaving behind a sweet, sticky liquid consisting mainly of carbohydrates, known as honeydew. Nectar-honeydew honey is thicker than nectar honey and contains more mineral compounds, especially potassium, phosphorus, chlorine, sulphur, calcium, magnesium and iron, thanks to the honeydew it contains from deciduous and coniferous trees.

Nectar-Honeydew Honey - consistency

Is honeydew honey better than nectar honey?

Honeydew honey (and nectar-honeydew honey too) often stands out for its higher content of minerals such as potassium, phosphorus and magnesium, as well as for greater antibiotic activity. This is connected with its honeydew content rather than directly with flower nectar. The choice of the “better” honey depends on individual taste preferences and health needs. In our view, the best honeys are precisely those that come from forest forage, that is honeydew honey, nectar-honeydew honey and forest honey. Honeys containing both honeydew and the nectar of forest-floor flowers are extremely aromatic and herbal and have a range of varied health properties thanks to their rich composition. Their taste and aroma are the most complex of all and let us mentally transport ourselves to an apiary in the forest :)
